The BK Racing GM Ecotec Short Chain Balance Shaft Delete Kit was developed for high RPM GM Ecotec racing engines where improved oil system control, reduced rotating mass, and simplified oiling become important for long-term reliability.
Factory balance shafts were designed primarily to reduce engine vibration and improve comfort in OEM street vehicles — not for sustained high RPM racing environments, aggressive cornering loads, turbocharged power levels, or dedicated competition engines.
As RPM and engine load increase, the factory balance shaft system introduces additional rotating mass, added oil system complexity, additional chain load, and extra components that can become failure points in serious racing applications.
The BK Racing Short Chain Balance Shaft Delete Kit removes the factory balance shaft assembly while converting the engine to a simplified short chain oil pump drive system commonly preferred in high RPM Ecotec builds.
This setup reduces rotating mass, simplifies the lower end oiling system, and eliminates unnecessary balance shaft components often removed in dedicated race engines.
