GM Ecotec Fixed Locking VVT Cam Gears – LE5 LE9 LAF LEA LUK
BK Racing Fixed Locking GM Ecotec VVT Cam Gears were developed for high RPM racing and boosted applications where factory variable valve timing becomes a limitation to stable camshaft control and repeatable tuning. Factory VVT actuators continuously alter cam timing through ECU-controlled oil pressure adjustments, which can introduce instability, inconsistent power delivery, and tuning complications in aggressive racing environments.
These billet locking hubs replace the factory VVT actuator assembly and convert the camshafts to fixed timing operation, allowing builders to lock intake and exhaust cam timing in optimized positions for their specific engine combination.
Co-developed alongside MWR Technologies, these locking hubs were designed specifically around the GM Ecotec 2.4L VVT engine family to provide reliable fixed camshaft control for circle track, drag racing, turbocharged, and high RPM naturally aspirated applications.
The hubs bolt directly to the factory high-strength steel sprockets while eliminating unwanted VVT movement commonly associated with high RPM and aggressive camshaft combinations.
Why Fixed VVT Cam Timing Matters
Factory Ecotec VVT systems were designed around emissions compliance, fuel economy, and broad operating conditions rather than sustained racing operation. In high RPM performance applications, continuously changing cam timing can complicate ECU calibration, reduce timing consistency, and create instability with aggressive aftermarket camshaft profiles.
By locking the camshafts into fixed positions, tuners gain repeatable valve timing control, simplified ECU calibration, improved turbo response, and more stable mid-to-top-end power delivery.

Installation Notes
Professional engine degreeing and ECU calibration are strongly recommended. Factory VVT monitoring must be disabled within the ECU calibration. Designed for off-road and competition use only.
